Having a social media strategy online is so important if you want your brand to be successful on any platform in any industry. Since my blog revolves around fitness, we will be looking into how to build a social media strategy in the fitness industry online.

Famous trainer Kayla Itsines credits much of her success to her social media accounts. Social media is not where she began in fitness, but it is what made her such a popular and successful personal trainer. Part of Itsine's social media strategy is to keep the attention on the transformation of the body rather than the "glamour aspect" of social media. Additionally, she focuses mostly on her followers and their fitness journeys rather than her own. By deciding what was most important for brand image, as well as what reflected her values as a trainer, Itsines was able to create one of the most successful fitness accounts on the internet.

Like Itsines, to build a social media strategy you must reflect on what is most important to your brand, your followers, and your values. Here is a list of 10 tips on building a successful social media brand in the fitness world online.

1. Keep a consistent brand image: pick a focus and stick to it!

2. When picking an area to focus on, pick something you are passionate about. I enjoy weight training primarily, so I stick to that.

3. Consistency with posting is KEY! Post throughout the week to ensure engagement, and also stick to similar colors and ideas if you're trying to develop a theme for your page.

4. Share your successes.

5. Share your followers successes also. Don't be afraid to post something that isn't about you.

6. Post a variety of media. Pictures, Boomerangs, Quotes, Videos, etc.

7. Don't keep helpful tips to yourself. You're creating this brand to share with others, if you learn something new at the gym inform your followers so they can try too!

8. Share what you and your followers do. Post some sample workouts for others to try, or post what your followers have tried.

9. Don't be afraid to be real. Even though your fitness account is supposed to reflect health and wellness, don't be afraid to post a picture of a cheat day meal or a rest day! We all need to recover, and sometimes a burger and fries is all it takes.

10. Enjoy posting and be proud of the brand you've created. Your fitness page should reflect yourself and your followers, and should most definitely be fun to manage along the way.

Hopefully these tips will help you build another amazing fitness account to add to the ever-growing collection online!
