Although my Dad always says headphones are a distraction in the gym, I personally cannot get through a good workout without a playlist to match. Having my headphones in actually keeps me distracted from other people, and boosts the intensity and focus of my workout. Even when I go to the gym with friends, I constantly find myself tuning them out just zone in and get my workout done.
For me, different workouts require different genres of music. I like to warm-up to something slower, less intense, and eventually build up to more exciting songs as my workout progresses. I'm pretty much a fan of all genres of music, so I like to keep a little bit of everything on my playlists.
The most important aspect of building a good workout playlist is picking songs that motivate you. I constantly find myself searching through Spotify looking for new songs to add, always trying to keep my playlists fresh and exciting throughout my workouts!
